MORE ABOUT RICHARD FUTCH, CSA:
A graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York, Richard Futch, CSA, began his professional theatrical career in New York under the guidance of the late Michael Shurtleff, renowned Broadway casting director, playwright and author. He worked with Mr. Shurtleff on major Broadway productions, including Pippin, Miss Moffat and Chicago. During his 15 years in New York, Mr. Futch also directed more than 30 off-off-Broadway, regional and showcase productions.
Since 2006, Mr. Futch has been the Casting Director of the highly successful Lifetime/ABC Studios series, Army Wives, which is filmed in Charleston, SC. He began as South Carolina Casting Director for the Pilot Episode, and has been Casting Director for Seasons One through Five. Army Wives is the highest rated series in the history of Lifetime Network.
Since 1990, Mr. Futch has been responsible for casting both principal actors and background talent for feature films, television network movies and national and regional commercials in Charleston, Texas, Florida and Virginia. Futch-Mullins Casting was responsible for principal and extras casting for The Notebook, directed by Nick Cassavetes. Other film and television credits include American Outlaws, The Hunley, Rough Riders and the independent feature, Leopold Bloom, released at film festivals in Venice and Montreal. In early 2008, Mr. Futch was the Location Casting Director for the Gold Circle Films feature film, The New Daughter, starring Kevin Costner. Most recently, Mr. Futch was the Location Casting Director for the award-winning feature Angel Camouflaged, directed by Michael Givens.
In 1998, Mr. Futch joined a grass roots group of local film professionals to form the Carolina Film Alliance (CFA) and served as the organization's founding President. In 2010 he was again elected to the Board of Directors and currently serves as President of the CFA.
Mr. Futch is a native of Charleston and, following his service in the U.S. Air Force, was graduated from The Citadel as a veteran student.
