Fizz, Bang, Whoosh! Prepare your pets NOW for Guy Fawkes Night With Help From Sound Therapy 4 Pets

With only just over two months until Guy Fawkes Night is upon us again, NOW is the time to prepare your pets for this frightening season.

CHESTER, ENGLAND, August 25, 2011

Many people who own dogs that are frightened by fireworks will be dreading the firework season, but there is still time for them to prepare fully to help their pets overcome their fears.

Animals' hearing is much more sensitive than that of humans, so it is easy to understand why fireworks are so scary for dogs. It is important for pets to become less afraid of loud noises, and with proper treatment this is achievable. Sounds Scary is a CD based treatment programme which teaches animals to be less afraid of sounds including fireworks, gunshots and thunder.

Sounds Scary is produced by Sound Therapy 4 Pets and was developed by Sarah Heath and Jon Bowen who are both internationally renowned veterinary surgeons, who exclusively treat animals with behavioural problems. Sounds Scary has been used to successfully treat many animals with severe sound phobias, and it is important not to ignore the problem if you have a pet that is frightened by loud noises.

Sounds Scary works by teaching dogs not to be afraid of loud noises; it is initially played at a low volume, and this volume level is gradually increased over a period of time. The dog can then be taught to associate the loud noises with pleasant experiences, such as play or being given treats. Each dog is different and therefore the amount of training required will differ from dog to dog. It can take a number of weeks to see improvements in the dog's behaviour, and this is why it is important to start the process NOW! Helping your dog to combat its fear of loud noises will result in a positive transformation in your pet's welfare.
