Inc. Magazine Names WellMed Among Most Successful Private Companies For 3rd Year

WellMed ranks No. 772 on the 2011 Inc. 5000, which ranks 5,000 U.S. private companies based on their percentage of revenue growth in the past 3 years. The annual listing is an extension of the Inc. 500, which is published in the magazine.

SAN ANTONIO, TX, August 25, 2011 (Press-News.org) For the third consecutive year, Inc. Magazine has named WellMed Medical Management as one of the most successful privately held companies in the United States.

WellMed ranks No. 772 on the 2011 Inc. 5000, which ranks 5,000 U.S. private companies based on their percentage of revenue growth in the past 3 years. The annual listing is an extension of the Inc. 500, which is published in the magazine. The 5000 list was posted today on Inc.com.

Inc. also put WellMed on three of its bellwether lists:

• Top 100 companies by gross dollars of growth (WellMed rank: 24)
• Top 100 companies by revenue (WellMed rank: 56)
• Top 100 health companies (WellMed rank: 52)

WellMed reported revenues of $1.1 billion at the end of 2010 - about $800 million more than it reported in calendar 2007, a 408% growth rate.

WellMed, founded in 1990 by Chairman and CEO Dr. George M. Rapier III, just received a similar honor from the San Antonio Business Journal, ranking alone among San Antonio-based companies with $1 billion-plus in revenue in the 2011 Fast Track Awards.
