KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, August 27, 2011 (Press-News.org) Canadian punk rock act Sum 41 will be playing to audiences in Kuala Lumpur as part of their global tour in October 2011.
The popular four-piece band from Ontario will perform at the Malaysian capital's National Sports Complex venue on October 8th, with the show lasting from 19:00 until 22:00 local time.
Sum 41 have been a fixture of the punk scene since the release of their hugely successful debut album All Killer, No Filler in 2001, which included hit songs such as Fat Lip, In Too Deep and Motivation.
They are currently touring as they continue to promote their latest album, Screaming Bloody Murder, which features new singles such as the title track and Baby, You Don't Wanna Know.
Tickets to the show will be available from 68 ringgits (GBP14).
After playing in Kuala Lumpur, Sum 41 will continue their trip around Asia with dates in Taipei, Shanghai, Beijing and Bali during October.
This comes after their performance in Japan's Sendai in May 2011 made them the first international band to play in the region after the devastating March earthquake, a show they described as "amazing".
Music lovers can browse a large selection of Kuala Lumpur hotels at AsiaRooms.com, including the Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel.

CHAMPAIGN, lll. — Researchers have engineered new sensors that fluoresce in the presence of compounds that interact with estrogen receptors in human cells. The sensors detect natural or human-made substances that alter estrogenic signaling in the body.

Estrogen occurs naturally in the body (in the form of 17-beta-estradiol), and a variety of plants (such as soybeans), pharmaceuticals, microbial byproducts and industrial chemicals (such as bisphenol A, in plastics) are also known to activate or block ...

Government-led efforts targeting eating habits of children needed to curb worldwide obesity epidemic
2011-08-27
Boston, MA – The global obesity epidemic has been escalating for decades, yet long-term prevention efforts have barely begun and are inadequate, according to a new paper from international public health experts published in the August 25, 2011 edition of the journal The Lancet. Noting that many countries lack basic population-wide data on children's weight and height, the authors call on governments around the world to launch a coordinated effort to monitor, prevent, and control obesity, and the long-term health, social and economic costs associated with it.

Exotic galaxy reveals tantalizing tale
2011-08-27
A galaxy with a combination of characteristics never seen before is giving astronomers a tantalizing peek at processes they believe played key roles in the growth of galaxies and clusters of galaxies early in the history of the Universe.
The galaxy, dubbed Speca by the researchers, is only the second spiral, as opposed to elliptical, galaxy known to produce large, powerful jets of subatomic particles moving at nearly the speed of light. It also is one of only two galaxies to show that such activity occurred in three separate episodes.
Giant jets of superfast particles ...

Discovery explains why influenza B virus exclusively infects humans; opens door for drug development
2011-08-27
Researchers at Rutgers University and the University of Texas at Austin have reported a discovery that could help scientists develop drugs to fight seasonal influenza epidemics caused by the common influenza B strain.
Their discovery also helps explain how influenza B is limited to humans, and why it cannot be as virulent as A strains that incorporate new genes from influenza viruses that infect other species. The devastating flu pandemic of 1918, the pandemics of 1968 and 1977, and the avian influenza that emerged in the middle of the last decade were caused by influenza ...
Protect Yourself from Bad Beats
2011-08-27
We probably all know the situation: You hold the aces, the flop is looking well, you bet and get a few calls. The turn does not change anything. You go all-in and get a call again. Showdown. You have a great chance of winning. The river changes everything, you lose your whole bankroll due to a bad beat.
The Bad Beat Guard is a tool to protect players from a bad beat, who are in an all-in situation. If you get a bad beat in an all-in situation, you get back the money you invested. The winner of the hand only gets the remainder of the pot.
On the various tables the ...
