BERKELEY, CA, September 16, 2011 (Press-News.org) Golden Gate Fields continues to successfully bring together horse racing and concerts in San Francisco, making a trip to the race track one of the most exciting San Francisco events to do this weekend.
Soft rock band Mustache Harbor is known for their versions of classic hits from the 70s and 80s. They'll take the stage at Golden Gate Fields on Sunday, Sept. 18 as part of Golden Gate Fields' ongoing summer concert series.
These series of concerts in San Francisco are only part of a huge Sunday at Golden Gate Fields. When sports fans think of Sunday their mind goes to NFL football, and Golden Gate Fields gives Bay Area sports fans exactly what they are looking for by combining NFL action with the thrill of thoroughbred horse racing.
San Francisco sports fans can come to the race track and enjoy Golden Gate Fields' NFL End Zone, a fully equipped sports bar complete with 16 plasma televisions and the Sunday Ticket package, bringing all the action from the opening kickoff to the final whistle.

Sundays ' one of the most inexpensive San Francisco events on the calendar. As part of Dollar Sundays patrons can receive admission, hot dogs, beers, sodas, program and parking for only $1.
And there's even more entertainment value in the days leading up to Sunday. Saturday marks the final installment of the Off The Grid Food Truck Festival at Golden Gate Fields - a culinary festival that has become one of the tastiest San Francisco events of the weekend.
In addition, Fridays at Golden Gate Fields are Senior Fridays, where members of the Thoroughbreds Club who are 62 years old or older receive free Club House admission.
The three days feature all the exhilarating thoroughbred horse racing Bay Area race fans have some to expect from their hometown track. Gates open at 10 a.m. on all three days, and the horse racing begins with a 12:45 p.m. post time.

About Golden Gate Fields
Golden Gates Fields, Northern California's premier horse racing facility, commenced its first meeting on Feb. 1, 1941. Due to poor track conditions caused by heavy rains, the inaugural meeting lasted only five days. America's involvement in World War II meant racing at the race track wouldn't resume for six years, and the track became a naval amphibious landing craft base.
Golden Gate Fields reopened on Sept. 9, 1947, and since has hosted many of the sports' greatest thoroughbred horses and jockeys. The great Bill Shoemaker, who would go on to become the world's winningest riders, scored his first career victory at Golden Gate Fields on April 20, 1949, aboard Shafter V. He retired 41 years later with 8,833 wins.
Through the years champion horses like Citation (1948 Horse of the Year), Noor (Handicap Horse of 1950), Determine (1954 Kentucky Derby winner), John Henry (Horse of the Year in 1981 and 1984), Brown Bess (Female Grass Horse of 1989), Tight Spot (Grass Horse of 1991), and Lost in the Fog (Sprinter of 2005) have competed at Golden Gate Fields.
