Facebook, Your Way to Wealth?

Why spend a billion in print or tv ads when your customers are waiting to be reached, for free, via social networking? A well maintained facebook page opens the door to customers everywhere, anytime

TORONTO, CANADA, September 22, 2010

Mark Loeffler, speaking at a recent Versatile Investor conference at the Courtyard Marriott in Toronto talked about the value of social networking for Canadian real estate investors.

"People see Twitter or Facebook as an aimless waste of time, & for some, no doubt that's true. But for the rest of us, it can be a powerful tool." Loeffler, the author of the bestseller Investing in Rent-to-Own Property: A Complete Guide for Canadian Real Estate Investors, went on to say:

"What are facebook & twitter? Essentially, online communities. Basically, for someone who works hard--niche markets. And niche markets are gifts from the gods. Why?

When people or individuals advertise, they usually do so through mass communication. And you can see their point: you want to reach the largest audience possible. That's why companies like Pepsi will cheerfully pay 2 million for 45 seconds during halftime of the Super Bowl. And that's smart, since everyone drinks pop.

BUT: not every business advertises to everyone, because not everyone is in the market for everything. For instance, tons of businesses DON'T advertise on tv, because their customers don't necessarily watch tv. (When's the last time you saw an ad for a realtor? A book? Or that chic store down the street with no media exposure but tons of customers?)

These businesses market to niches. That is, specific segments of the market that are keen to buy what you sell.

In my book, I argue: why spend a billion in print or tv ads when your customers are waiting to be reached, for free, via social networking? A well maintained facebook page opens the door to customers everywhere, anytime."
