Interracial Dating Convention, October 14, 2011, San Francisco Bay Area

Dating Expert and author Deborrah Cooper keynotes America's first Interracial Dating Convention.

2011-09-19
SAN RAFAEL, CA, September 19, 2011 (Press-News.org) Single Professionals of all ages and all races are invited to America's First Interracial Dating Convention, Friday, October 14, 2011, at the Marriott San Mateo/San Francisco Airport, 1770 S Amphlett Blvd, San Mateo CA 94402.

Dating expert and author Deborrah Cooper will keynote the convention. She will discuss:
•The Pros and Cons of Interracial Dating
•Dating and racial stereotypes, such as "Asian Women are Submissive" or "Black men are sexual studs"
•How U.S. media negatively impacts the romantic options of women of color
•Why Black/White interracial relationships are the most fraught with tension
•How and why Black churches keep African-American women single

"Interracial dating is neither superior nor inferior to dating within your own race," says Ms. Cooper. "There are advantages and disadvantages, as well as special challenges to each. People who exclusively date a different race usually have a fetish for that race, which is no less foolish than refusing to date a particular race because of unfair stereotypes."

Deborrah Cooper is the author of the award winning Sucka Free Love! How to Avoid Dating the Dumb, The Deceitful, The Dastardly, The Dysfunctional & The Deranged. She is a dating advice columnist for Examiner.com. She is the veteran of numerous media interviews, including CNN, BET, Ebony, Essence, Dallas Morning News, Oakland Tribune, The Tom Joyner Morning Show, The Rev. Al Sharpton Show, American Urban Radio, etc. Her website, full of information on creating better relationships for singles, is http://www.survivingdating.com. Deborrah Cooper is available to the news media for interviews by calling 510-863-0320 or by emailing survivingdating@gmail.com.

The Convention opens at 7pm. Ms. Cooper speaks at 7:30pm. Dance Party follows, 9pm-Midnight.

The Convention is sponsored by The Society of Single Professionals, the world's largest non-profit singles organization. The cost to attend is $20 at the door. Overnight rooms at the hotel are available at the discounted rate of $139.
