Nonprofit Project Receives Official Recognition From The Internal Revenue Service As A Charitable Organization Whose Contributions Are Tax-Deductible

2011-10-06
RALEIGH, NC, October 05, 2011 (Press-News.org) Operation: Coming Home (http://operationcominghome.com), a joint volunteer project led by the Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County (HBA), the Triangle Real Estate and Construction Veterans (TREAC-V), and supported by Royal Oaks Building Group and Gaines & Company, among others, has announced that the effort has attained official 501(c)3 status from the Internal Revenue Service, thus allowing all contributions to the charitable organization to be tax-deductible. This will benefit Operation: Coming Home in its efforts to direct more money to pay for homes constructed in the Triangle for disabled veterans of the Middle East conflicts. With this new status, Operation: Coming Home can apply to the N.C. Department of Revenue for exemption from state sales tax, corporate income tax and franchise tax as well.

QUOTES:
"We are excited and grateful about receiving official 501(c)3 status for Operation: Coming Home from the IRS," said Rich Van Tassel, member of Operation: Coming Home's board of directors and president of Royal Oaks Building Group. "This will be a tremendous help to us as we raise funds in advance of our donation of a third home to a disabled veteran later this year. Now, donors will know their gifts will produce the maximum results for their dollars on this project, as well as not penalize them when tax filing arrives in 2012."
