CAMPBELL, CA, October 19, 2011 (Press-News.org) Coggno, a leader in Learning Management System (LMS), is very pleased to welcome a series of eLearning materials pertaining to the health information technology. These online resources are designed by My Health IT Academy to provide a simulation-testing platform for individuals who are studying for a health information technology certification conducted by the Health Information Technology Professional, popularly known as HITPro.
In February 2009, the United States Congress passed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), which included a $22 billion allocation aim to modernize health information technology systems. This act will require physicians' offices, clinics, hospitals and other health care providers to have electronic health records (EHRs) by 2015. The transition from a paper model of storing health records to a full electronic data system will open jobs in this field, and will definitely need trained and certified health information technology professionals.
My Health IT Academy, established to provide quality online training and testing for individuals who are interested in becoming certified health IT professionals, is publishing mini and full practice tests models for the Health Information Technology Professional (HITPro) competency examination. There are six workforce roles identified to fill in the EHR systems' team. These are:
1. Practice Workflow and Information Management Redesign Specialist
Workers in this role assist in reorganizing the work of a provider to take full advantage of the features of health IT in pursuit of meaningful use of health IT to improve health and care. Individuals in this role may have backgrounds in health care (for example, as a practice administrator) or in information technology, but are not licensed clinical professionals.
2. Clinician/Practitioner Consultant
This role is similar to the Redesign specialist role, but brings to bear the background and experience of a licensed clinical and professional or public health professional.
3. Technical / Software Support Staff
Workers in this role maintain systems in clinical and public health settings, including patching and upgrading of software. The previous background of workers in this role includes information technology or information management.
4. Implementation Support Specialist
Workers in this role provide on-site user support for the period of time before and during implementation of health IT systems in clinical and public health settings.
5. Implementation Manager
Workers in this role provide on-site management of mobile adoption support teams for the period of time before and during implementation of health IT systems in clinical and public health settings.
6. Trainer
Workers in this role design and deliver training programs, using adult learning principles, to employees in clinical and public health settings. The previous background of workers in this role includes experience as a health professional or health information management specialist. Experience as a trainer in the classroom is also desired.
If you are ready and want to see how you will fare in the actual HITPro exam, you can take the My Health IT Academy online tests for only $20 per role. This will save you hundred of dollars of savings if you take the HITPro exam and don't pass, which costs $299/exam and $199/exam for retakes. The mini tests are designed to give a glimpse of the full tests, which include 1 question per module, and will not cost anything. For more information, please visit: http://www.myhitacademy.com.
