Garvey Schubert Barer Honored with 2011 Washington State Appleseed Pro Bono Award

Garvey Schubert Barer has been selected for the 2011 Appleseed Award for Pro Bono Service by Washington Appleseed.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, October 22, 2011 (Press-News.org) Garvey Schubert Barer has been selected for the 2011 Appleseed Award for Pro Bono Service by Washington Appleseed. Firm volunteers, led by firm Owner and Washington Appleseed board of directors member Ronald J. Knox, have contributed more than 200 hours to the organization, helping in matters such as assessing and reporting on the impact of payday loans and advocating for the homeless. Firm volunteers also have been active in helping devise and implement the organization's legal strategy.

"Ron and all of our volunteers should be lauded for their outstanding contribution to the community. As a firm, we feel very strongly that public service is vital to our personal and professional success and are proud to actively encourage all attorneys to devote 10 percent of their billable time to pro bono efforts and we provide up to 37.5 paid hours for staff members to volunteer," said Anne Preston, Chair of Garvey Schubert Barer.
