MyRegistry.com Announces Finalists For Baby Registry Giveback

Universal Gift Registry Website Rallies Local Support For Mothers in Need to Enter for the Chance to Win a Baby Registry

2011-11-03
NEW YORK, NY, November 03, 2011 (Press-News.org) MyRegistry.com, the leading universal gift registry website, announces the four finalists of its first-ever Baby Registry Giveback; an initiative to help benefit families who are managing unforeseen difficulties that have impacted their ability to purchase baby necessities. This past September, MyRegistry.com invited families in need to share their stories of hardship. After reviewing hundreds of compelling stories, the selected finalists will now work with MyRegistry.com's Personal Registry Concierge Service to create baby registries filled with items necessary to welcome their newborns. As part of a nationwide initiative to spread goodwill, MyRegistry.com urges members of each finalist's community to share their support by purchasing items on the registry. The registry with the greatest amount of community support will receive an additional $5,000 worth of goods, provided by MyRegistry.com.

MyRegistry.com has selected the following final four finalists:

• Ashley Delgado, Roanoke, TX: Mrs. Delgado was originally pregnant with triplets and experienced major complications. After miscarrying one of her babies, she has had to undergo a series of expensive surgeries and is on complete bed rest, unable to work or prepare for her baby, for fear of further complicating her pregnancy.
• Holly Dorlon, Oceanside, CA: Mrs. Dorlon braved the birth of her daughter completely alone. Her husband was unexpectedly deployed to Afghanistan one month prior to her due date. Her delivery was filled with numerous complications, during which she had no family support over the course of three agonizing days. These complications resulted in a large number of expenses that have prevented her from buying a majority of the baby supplies that she needs.
• Katina Harkins, Temple Hills, MD: Mrs. Harkins and her family lost their home in a flash flood this past September in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene. Everything they owned, including the crib that they were saving for their daughter was destroyed in the flood. They are expecting their second little girl in December. Currently, Mr. and Mrs. Harkins have been forced to stay at separate locations and are not financially prepared for the birth of their baby.
• Rachel Woodstuff, Savannah, GA: Mr. and Mrs. Woodstuff both lost their jobs at the beginning of this year leaving the family without insurance and very little income. They also have a three year old daughter. Mr. Woodstuff is working sporadically and the family is currently surviving off of $200.00 a month. Their baby will be born around Thanksgiving and they have no idea on how they will be able to afford to prepare for his arrival.

MyRegistry.com is proud to offer a platform where members of each finalist's community can come together and show their support. Each registry will be open to the public from (November 1, 2011 - December 1, 2011). Upon conclusion, each finalist will receive the items purchased in their registry to help better prepare them for motherhood, and the registry with the greatest amount of community support will receive an additional $5,000 worth of goods, provided by MyRegistry.com.

"The second phase of MyRegistry.com's Baby Registry Giveback is all about local and national involvement and raising awareness for those in need. Donation registries can be created by anyone, for any cause," said MyRegistry.com President Nancy Lee. "We hope that working with each nominee and the members of their communities will help create a positive change in the lives of all of our finalists."
