NORTHUMBERLAND, ENGLAND, November 21, 2011 (Press-News.org) Perspective Magazine, the global multi-media information provider for the timeshare and fractional industry, is pleased to announce that educational organization Christel House will again be the Charity of Choice for the Second Annual Global Networking Expo, GNEX 2012 - A Global Meeting of Minds.
"We are honored that Paul and Sharon Mattimoe have again selected Christel House as the Charity of Choice for the 2012 GNEX conference. By supporting Christel House during the conference, in their publications and through their sponsorship of the Christel House Open, the Mattimoes set an extraordinary example for the timeshare industry of caring, sharing, and making the world a better place," said Christel House Founder, Christel DeHaan.
Christel House builds and operates learning centers serving impoverished children with the goal of creating sustainable social and educational impact. Their holistic approach includes: quality education, nutritious meals, regular healthcare, life skills training, character development and work-study opportunities as well as empowerment programs for parents and community members. At Christel House, children are taught the importance of caring, sharing and making a difference. As a result, the positive lessons learned by Christel House children are carried home, to impact the families and communities they serve.
GNEX 2012 will be held on January 31st - February 2nd, 2012, as decision-makers from throughout the vacation ownership industry will gather for networking and business development opportunities at the Ritz Carlton Cancun in Cancun, Mexico. The Perspective Magazine Awards Gala dinner will take place at the Hacienda Tres Rios Resort in Riviera Maya the evening of February 2nd as industry professionals will vie for global recognition of excellence in over 40 categories.
The conference will include two fundraising opportunities for Christel House as industry leaders will have the opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of the organization. Perspective Magazine has arranged a Private Yacht Cruise, courtesy of Yachts E, for a limited number of attendees to explore parts of Cancun and Isla Mujeres ahead of the conference, with all proceeds from the excursion going directly to Christel House. In addition, a presentation from Ron Haylock of Christel House at the Perspective Magazine Awards Gala dinner will provide an opportunity for the delegates to offer financial support. Unlike many charities, 100% of individual contributions go directly to help the children of Christel House and are not used to support administrative overhead.
During GNEX 2012, industry leaders from five continents will participate in ground-breaking workshops and networking sessions designed to provide new ways to advance the shared ownership industry. The expo will also include informative presentations, interactive panel discussions, a tour of a selection of successful properties from the local area (limited spaces), nightly social events, open networking time and a networking lounge with areas for individual business meetings.
"We have supported Christel House for many years and are delighted that as we grow we can continue to find ways to integrate our passion for this charitable organization into more sectors of our business. GNEX 2011 raised just over $5,000 for the charity and we are hoping, through a larger attendance and a few other special items, to more than double that figure at GNEX 2012," said Paul Mattimoe, president and CEO, Perspective Magazine.

Planting depth's effect on container-grown trees
2011-11-21
BLACKSBURG, VA -- Many landscape trees are started in-ground, then sold as bare-root ''liners'' to producers who plant them in large containers to grow. To minimize wind damage and to facilitate transport from potting areas to growing beds, the liners are often buried deeper than necessary. This deep planting of liners results in "finished" container plants with deep structural roots, important foundations of root systems responsible for trees' health and stability. Deep structural roots are thought to contribute to physiological stresses resulting from oxygen deprivation.

The researchers used their results to point out which species are most threatened and to define priorities for future protected areas. The study was published in the open access journal ZooKeys.
