CUMMING, GA, November 28, 2011 (Press-News.org) CDPE Designated Georgia Realtor Matthew Sipera, a member of The Komar Team of Results Realty Services, has developed a resource on the internet that provides information on the Home Affordable Foreclosure Alternative Program, or "HAFA." The interactive website provides information explaining alternatives to foreclosure and options for families who are having trouble paying their mortgages.
The free information is available at http://www.shortsalega.com/home-affordable-foreclosure-alternatives.html and explains the benefits of short sales, or selling a property for less than the current mortgage amount owed.
The Department of the Treasury changed the eligibility standards for the HAFA program in December 2010 which increased the number of people who are eligible. They also changed the guidelines for financial institutions and streamlined the process.
Short sale benefits include protection of security clearance, decreased damage to credit, and the potentially harmful affects of foreclosure on employment. Some of the programs offer cash incentives for homeowners who successfully complete a short sale or deed-in-lieu of foreclosure.
Matthew Sipera explains his motivation to provide this information to the Georgia community, "The federal government and financial institutions have improved their foreclosure avoidance programs which makes more Georgia homeowners eligible for government assistance. I want to help people make informed decisions about their homes and educate people on how a short sale can be a great option."
