SALISBURY, ENGLAND, August 18, 2010 (Press-News.org) Wolseley recently demonstrated that there is no limit to the lengths, or indeed distances, that it will go to support its key partners. Staff from the company met a team of seven dedicated and enthusiastic cyclists from Tesco Maintenance at 05:30am on a sunny Sunday in July and transported both the team and their bikes to the starting line of the British Heart Foundation charity bike ride.
The ride involved the Tesco staff (and 5,500 other cyclists) cycling a gruelling 59 miles between London and Southend. After all seven finished the ride in very impressive times, with the top two finishing in 4hrs 45mins, Wolseley was on hand to return the team and their bikes back home for a well deserved rest.
Sean Collins, Wolseley's Contract Team Director, said: "We are delighted to be able to help out our partners wherever we can, particularly when it is in aid of such a worthy cause. To hear that the team has already raised an impressive GBP1,235 is fantastic news."
Wolseley works in partnership with Tesco Maintenance, an in-house team with more than 1,000 operatives maintaining in excess of 2,000 stores, to enable them to provide a fast, first-time fix to all critical assets including areas such as the bakery, catering, checkouts, HVAC, lifts, escalators and petrol forecourts plus any area that has health and safety implications.
