Hotels-Paris.co.uk - Karl Lagerfeld Exhibition Open in Paris

A Paris art venue is hosting a collection of photographs taken by designer Karl Lagerfeld this autumn.

2010-09-24
PARIS, FRANCE, September 24, 2010 (Press-News.org) Art enthusiasts should be sure to put aside some time during their trip to Paris to check out an exhibition of photographs taken by superstar designer Karl Lagerfeld.

Although more famous for his distinctive silver hair and iconic fashion creations, Lagerfeld is also passionate about photography.

Hotel Paris guests can see the fruits of this hobby by heading to the Maison Europeenne de la Photographie, where 400 pictures taken by the designer are on display.

Speaking ahead of the opening of the exhibition, Lagerfeld described how photography has helped widen his "vision", since he was previously completely involved in the world of fashion.

"What interests me, what I am passionate about, is the different developing techniques, all that we can do - and what we can no longer do. It is as important as the photography itself," he was quoted as saying.

Writing for AFP, Emma Charlton noted that Lagerfeld first picked up a camera when he was working for Chanel and disliked the images being produced to advertise certain items.

The newswire explained that he was told to go take the pictures himself if he did not like what was on offer - which is exactly what he did.

Admission to the exhibition - which is on display until October 31st 2010 - costs EUR7 (GBP5.85).

Opening hours are from 11:00 to 20:00 local time every day, except for Mondays, Tuesdays and bank holidays, when the building is closed.

For more information on this event visit the Maison Europeenne de la Photographie website or contact the venue on +33 1 44 78 75 00.
