The new singer is in the studio and poised to capture the spotlight with a unique and captivating sound.
PHILADELPHIA, PA, September 24, 2010
Shilpa Narayan has spent the past several weeks recording her album in New York City, and plans to have a five song demo recorded by October. The album is a mix of R&B and pop/dance music, while also slowing it down for several stripped down acoustic originals as well. Shilpa mainly takes her inspiration from the everyday lives of herself, her family life and her friends. "I think there's a lot someone can write about if they just look around and observe things a little."Throughout her life, Shilpa always had a passion for music, but finally began to pursue her musical career two years ago. The spark that lit her desire to pursue music professionally actually has a quirky story behind it. "I leaked the Timbaland album and bet myself that if the song apologize became a #1 hit, I would buy a guitar. 6 months later when it climbed the charts, I bought myself my 1st guitar and started teaching myself. Singing kind of just followed with that." After posting unique acoustic covers of popular songs such as Lady Gaga's "Telephone", Usher's "OMG" and Jeff Buckley's "Hallelujah", her videos quickly garnered tens of thousands of views. But Shilpa is eager to get her own songs out to the public, "I'm really excited for the album to come out since so far the focus has been on covers."
Shilpa draws inspiration from a wide variety of musicians from Lil' Wayne to Coldplay, and Lady Gaga to Nirvana. "I appreciate good melodies and good lyrics regardless of the style of music." Stay tuned for more news regarding Shilpa's anticipated album later this fall.
