DERBY, ENGLAND, September 24, 2010 (Press-News.org) George's Tradition, an Award Winning Fish & Chip retailer, were invited by Chellaston School to help Food Technology students with their GSCE syllabus themed on Fish. Each year the Food Technology syllabus is based around a different theme to help students understand key elements such as Nutrition, Cooking, Food Safety, HACCP, Environment and Packaging/ Labelling.
Louise Cope, Head of Food Technology at Chellaston School explains; 'We approached George's Tradition having received the exam theme of 'fish' as the local experts. The students thoroughly enjoyed both the demo in school and the tour of the kitchen. The reputation of George's was enhanced by their detailed presentation on sourcing and sustainability, even more so by the excellent fish and chip meal shared at the end of the project. The omega fish oils evidently worked in contributing to the outstanding results in their exams!'
Lucy Hall, George's Tradition Marketing Manager adds; 'We were thrilled when Chellaston School approached us to organise a food demo for their students. Getting involved with local communities is really important to us. This was a great opportunity to utilise our years of experience in the Fish and Chip industry, by passing on our knowledge. On behalf of George's Tradition, I would like to congratulate Chellaston Food Technology students on their fantastic results.'
George's Tradition held a total of 5 cooking demos at the school. The demos included a talk about the sourcing of fish and the seafood industry. After the demos students visited George's Tradition Restaurant at Chellaston for a tour around the kitchen and some well earned lunch!
George's Tradition of serving great fish and chips is long established. In fact, the company began as a family business back in 1967. It's still run on the same basis today, only on a much larger scale. For further information about our shops, restaurants or food please contact us using the details below.
