STATE Contracting, Inc. Progressing On Entrance Improvement Project For Jordan High School

Firm Specializing In Site Development And Roadway Improvement Works On Largest Project To Date Building New Access Road For Durham, N.C. School

2012-01-13
RALEIGH, NC, January 13, 2012 (Press-News.org) Deborah Todd, president of STATE Contracting, Inc., has announced that the privately held firm, specializing in site development and roadway improvement, is progressing on its work to improve access at Jordan High School in Durham, N.C., for what is the largest project in scope that the firm has ever handled. Work began in early 2011 to construct a second vehicle entrance into the high school from its location at 6806 Garrett Road, widen sections of the existing road, upgrade sidewalks on campus, create a new parking lot, and install curbs and gutters for stormwater runoff improvements. The project is anticipated to be complete by the spring/summer of 2012. The contract for STATE's work, awarded by the Durham Public Schools Board of Education, is in excess of $1 million.

Jordan High School opened in 1963 and has an enrollment of nearly 1,900 students for the 2011-2012 school year. It is one of six traditional high schools within the seventh largest school district in North Carolina, and it offers students more than 17 Advanced Placement courses as well as more than 14 varsity and junior varsity sports. For more information, visit http://www.jordan.dpsnc.net.

QUOTES:
"Jordan High School lies in a highly trafficked section of Durham, close to Garrett Road's intersection with Hope Valley Road, with many businesses and the heavily traveled roads N.C. 54 and 751 nearby," said Todd. "Our construction is aimed at providing better safety for students who walk to and from the school, as well as drivers of the buses and cars that drop off and pick them up. The final result will be safer and easier access for everyone during school hours by the time Jordan celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2013, and we at STATE are proud to contribute to this effort."
