NOTTINGHAM, ENGLAND, February 16, 2012 (Press-News.org) Have you ever imagined you could turn plastic bottles into window blinds? Tuiss.co.uk, the online blinds and curtains retailer, have done just that and announce the launch of a brand new collection of 'Index' roller blinds made from recycled plastic.
Each square metre of Index blind fabric is made from the equivalent of 6 thrown away bottles. PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) is used to produce bottles for drinks and packaging for many products, after use these containers are often just simply thrown away. Index fabric is also Oeko-tex 100 certified which assures that no harmful substances are used during its production process.
The roller tube is made from aluminium, which can be recycled again and again without any loss of its inherent properties.
In addition there is a recycled cotton blind range called 'Cotton'. The 100% recycled Cotton fabric originates from the clothing industry where a large percentage of fabric ends up on the cutting room floor. Tuiss uses fabric spun from this wasted material to make beautiful blinds. Fabric remnants are collected from the clothing manufacturers, they are grouped according to type and colour and then they are cut into strips with equal lengths. The strips of fabric are turned into fibres, which are spun into new yarn which are in turn woven into fabric.
Both the Index and the Cotton recycled roller blind range are available in a choice of 5 colours.
Prices start from just GBP31.95 for a made to measure Index roller blind measuring W40cm x D40cm.
Tuiss offers beautiful made to measure blinds and curtains for customers throughout Europe.
