CHARLESTON, SC, February 23, 2012 (Press-News.org) Attorney Evan Guthrie of the Evan Guthrie Law Firm in Charleston, South Carolina spoke to students at Burke Middle School and Burke High School about the legal profession at the Burke Middle High School Career Symposium. Attorney Guthrie talked to the students about his experience as a lawyer and what steps the students needed to take pursue a career in law. There were five sessions in the Career Symposium in which students from Burke Middle and Burke High attended and rotated through that reflected careers that the students showed an interest in or tested for. Mr. Guthrie spoke to five different sessions of students for a half hour each session. Attorney Guthrie talked about the exact steps that were necessary in order to become a lawyer in South Carolina which included graduating high school, graduating from a four year college, taking the LSAT, graduating an accredited law school, and passing the SC Bar Exam.
Mr. Guthrie shared some advice on what the steps the students could currently take while they were still in school to prepare for a legal career or a career in general. Attorney Guthrie also spoke about the different types of lawyers in the legal community and the most popular types of law that attorneys practice. The students had many questions that ranged on what classes to take to how much different attorneys make. Attorney Guthrie was excited about telling the students about the legal profession and being able to give advice about how to become a part of it.
