French Investors Are Willing to Invest in Russian Business

On February 23, the conference "Investment in Russia: Opportunities and Challenges for French Businesses" organized by Gradient Alpha Investments Group and Le Cercle Kondratieff Association of Economists was held in Paris.

2012-02-29
MOSCOW, RUSSIA, February 29, 2012 (Press-News.org) On February 23, the conference "Investment in Russia: Opportunities and Challenges for French Businesses" organized by Gradient Alpha Investments Group and Le Cercle Kondratieff Association of Economists was held in Paris. The event took place in UIC (International Union of Railways) Congress Center.

The conference was attended by representatives of the French investment companies of various economy sectors, Le Cercle Kondratieff economists and experts, representatives of COFACE (Compagnie francaise d'assurance pour le commerce exterieur) - French insurance company specializing in risk hedging, representatives of OSEO French Agency for Innovation, Paris City Council, Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and journalists of business and socio-political mass media.

The Chairman of the Gradient Alpha Investments Group Board of Directors, Investment, Finance, Tax and Banking Expert Pavel Gagarin delivered his speech "Practical Steps of a Foreign Investor in Russia to Achieve a Positive Investment Result". During the conference, Pavel Gagarin recommended that European investors should expand their businesses' geography to Russia by means of establishing branches and representative offices.

"Western entrepreneurs pointed out the reduction of French export to Russia and obstacles to the flow of French goods caused, in their view, by the Russian Customs and government. This might affect every economy sector and can be explained by the policy of import substitution adopted by the authorities. In this context, French businesses should rather invest in establishing and developing production branches and production using French technologies in Russia instead of importing goods to the country," believes Pavel Gagarin.

According to Jean Louis Truel, Vice President of Le Cercle Kondratieff, the event was held more than successfully - "Both the number of participants and the quality of delivered presentations attest to that. In his speech Pavel Gagarin emphasized the advantages of doing business in Russia, as well as main peculiarities to be considered by foreign companies entering the Russian market. At the close of the conference, we had to arrange twice as many appointments as we had planned, because there were very many people who wanted to discuss investment projects described in the presentations with us".

Representatives of the French public authorities and business organizations engaged in support for French export, expressed their willingness to provide various subsidies and support investment in Russia.

The conference became one more step in the full-scale activities of Gradient Alpha Investments Group with the Western investment society on providing access of investors to the most perspective investment objects of medium-size enterprises in Russia. At the close of the event, over 20 negotiation sessions with the French businessmen were held.
