LONG BEACH, CA, March 29, 2012 (Press-News.org) Tamarind of London, the popular new Indian restaurant in Newport Beach is introducing its spring menu, announced General Manager Maneesh Rawat. He said that Executive Chef Shachi Mehra views the menu "as a living and ever-evolving centerpiece that has led to the restaurant's meteoric success."
Among the new main dishes are Home-Style Chicken Curry Jidori for $20; Ghost Chili Beef Vindaloo with ginger, garlic, potatoes and red wine vinegar for $21; Rajasthani Vegetable Kadhi served with yogurt, chickpea flour, curry leaf and dried red chili for $16; Stuffed Anaheim Chili with spiced potatoes, chickpea batter and tomato mustard sauce for $17; Monkfish Tikka for $25; and natural grass-fed New York Steak with black pepper, dry mango and pomegranate molasses for $26. New first course items include the Spicy Eggplant Salan with peanuts, sesame, tamarind and green chili for $8; Crispy Paneer with cilantro, green chili and smoked tomato chutney for $10; and Rock Shrimp Balchao with mezcal, red chili and onions for $12.
"We're delighted to introduce our new dinner menu and hope that it is as well received as our original menu," said Mehra. "While many of our loyal guests have come to enjoy their favorite items and expect them to forever remain on the menu, I think it's important to continue exploring new territory thus introducing them to new adventures in dining."
Guided by a philosophy that seeks to blend cultural authenticity with mainstream accessibility, Tamarind of London is being lauded for its eclectic menu of crossover dishes that take advantage of the West Coast's fresh produce, seafood, poultry and lamb as well as favorite Indian classics. The elegant interior features an exhibition kitchen featuring 3 large crimson-colored tandoor ovens where chefs are busy preparing various items. The dining room offers tables in the main section, private booths along the perimeter and a communal table offering a bird's-eye view of the Euro-style kitchen. The lushly landscaped Garden Room comes complete with retractable walls, chef's herb garden, a water feature and fire pits. Bar chef Shanti Dutta serves a full range of signature cocktails along with craft domestic and imported beers and nearly 50 wines by the glass.
