CORNWALL, ENGLAND, April 21, 2012 (Press-News.org) Avid bookworms will head to Cornwall next month for the St Ives Literature Festival.
The tourist hotspot will play host to nine days of literature-based activities from Saturday May 5th, with poetry readings, book launches and creative writing workshops among the entertainment on the bill.
Highlights of the festival programme include an evening with the poet Tony Curtis, which is set to take place from 21:00 BST on the opening night.
Curtis has authored several poetry collections, including 1995's War Voices, The Arches from 1998 and Heaven's Gate, released in 2001.
Tickets for his talk at the St Ives Arts Club in Westcotts Quay are priced at GBP6.
Other names from the literary world who have been lined up to appear at the event include Sue Johns, Agnes Meadows and James Penhaligan.
St Ives has a proud literary heritage, with Virginia Woolf spending her childhood holidays in the town during the late 1800s.
It is believed that Godrevy Lighthouse, located across the bay from St Ives, was the inspiration for her famous novel To the Lighthouse.
LateRooms.com recommends a wide range of places to stay in Cornwall that may appeal to book lovers, including the five-star Upton House, which overlooks the historic town centre and the Fowey estate.
