Official Trailer Release for The Dahl Dynasty

The trailer for The Dahl Dynasty, an independent modernization of William Shakespeare's Hamlet, has been released online.

DALLAS, TX, April 30, 2012

One of Shakespeare's most renowned tragedies, Hamlet, is being re-vamped for the big screen in an independent feature film entitled The Dahl Dynasty. The trailer for The Dahl Dynasty is now available for viewing on Facebook, YouTube, and the film's official website.

The film takes place in modern day Dallas, Texas, where the Dahl family mourns the sudden death of their patriarch, Hamilton Dahl III (Kurt Stallings). The surviving members of the Dahl family are his wife, Trudy Dahl (Kara Rainer), his son, Hamilton Dahl IV (Jon Christie), and his younger brother Claude Dahl (Tim Newkirk). The younger Hamilton travels to Dallas after learning the starling news of his father's death just days before his graduation from Princeton, and he is joined by his long-time girlfriend, Olivia Alderliesten (Olivia Stem), and his best friend, Hugh Van Horn (Tylor West).

Unfortunately, despite being his father's heir, Hamilton is unable to take over as the head of Dahl Industries, the family's real estate empire, because of a clause in his father's will that prohibits him from taking charge of the company until he is 25. Instead, hands over the reins to Claude so that he can run the company in the interim. Hamilton IV, already angered by his lack of involvement in the company and disillusioned by the loss of his father, becomes further enraged and revenge driven upon learning from his father's ghost that Claude was responsible for his death. Thus begins a chain of events that will plunge the Dahl family and those around them into a period of darkness, desolation, and danger.

Other core cast members include Travis J. Rodriguez as Ross Krantz, Lloyd Guerrero as Giles Stern, Zach Touchon as Lawrence Alderliesten, and Lane Cawthon as Marc.

The Dahl Dynasty will feature music by Sparks the Rescue, Holly Heist, and Lisa D'Amato, the winner of America's Next Top Model's All Star cycle. Sparks The Rescue's song "We May Be Cruel" can be heard in the official trailer.

Executive Producer/Writer/Co-Director Kristen Reed, Producer/Co-Director Bryan Quinn, and Director of Photography Eric Chisholm are equally excited to begin work on editing the film, which was shot in under six weeks in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Shooting locations included: Absinthe Lounge (Dallas), Big Mike's Coffee (Denton), Therapy on the Square (McKinney), Pocket Sandwich Theatre (Dallas), Episcopal Cathedral of St. Matthews (Dallas), and Harvest Bend (McKinney).
