HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO, April 30, 2012 (Press-News.org) Lighthouse Assisted Living Englewood announced that it is organizing special game days to encourage its residents experience very high quality of life, without compromising on assisted living care. Each home accommodates only eight residents to provide excellent care to the residents and fulfill their special preferences and needs. One game day is conducted with cards and words. Another game day consists of puzzles.
To make matters interesting for the residents of Lighthouse Assisted Living Englewood, the word game consists of snack foods. One game day allow the residents to play a game of FRAZZLE. Card games include 5 cards down type of games. Another game day comprises of guessing games like 'What am I?' or word fitting puzzles. The Shhh game day induces the residents to play charades.
Liz Littleton, the administrator of Lighthouse Assisted Living Englewood, is a registered nurse with experience of more than 11 years in all aspects of nursing, such as Hospice nursing, Pediatric ICU, etc. She coordinates the games organized at Lighthouse Assisted Living Englewood facility, supported by the full-time house manager. Tom Littleton, a Master Degree holder in Business Administration and husband of Liz, also helps Liz in the celebration of games by the residents. Even their four children participate in these games to enhance the interests of the residents and provide more fun in the games.
Other games conducted at Lighthouse Assisted Living Englewood facility are ball tossing, baking competitions like making cherry desserts, and descriptive game day such as guessing what is in the can. Dice games like FARKLE are also conducted at regular intervals. Even in puzzle days, new and creative puzzles are continuously introduced to the residents. An example is flower puzzle day in which floral design puzzles are brought out to offer mental relief to residents with dementia related disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease. YAHTZEE is another interesting game organized during game days at Lighthouse Assisted Living Englewood.
One more puzzle game day is puzzle combined with discussion on subjects like me and my shadow. Even water coloring competition is part of the games days in this facility. Cooking competition like ice cream scoop day adds extra flavor to game days. Liz combines innovation with simplicity in the game days of Lighthouse Assisted Living Englewood facility to offer indirect mental and physical health care to the residents.
