Injured Service Members Enjoy Day of Relaxation and Rehabilitation with Former NASCAR Driver Ward Burton

Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation and Freedom Alliance cohost outdoor event for injured service members

2012-05-04
LUTZ, FL, May 04, 2012 (Press-News.org) On Friday, May 4, Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation (WBWF) and Freedom Alliance are set to cohost the American Hero Event in Clover, Virginia. This event will provide American Heroes a healing experience to help them cope with their mental and physical injuries they sustained from serving our country during the last several years at war. This event is not open to the public.

"Through this event our goal is to show our guys a great time and make them feel good about themselves," says Ward Burton, former NASCAR driver and winner of the Daytona 500. "The outdoors provide a great place for them to relax and have fun." Ward Burton is personally hosting and participating in this event.

The rehabilitative nature of the outdoors will provide American Heroes with resources needed to continue their healing process. The injured service members will spend time relaxing in the natural atmosphere of the "Cove." The injured service members will receive career assistance training and have the opportunity to apply for potential employment during the event.

The WBWF property, also knows as the "Cove," is located in Clover, Virginia and consists of more than 2,000 acres of breathtaking landscape and wildlife habitat. This event will have a positive impact on the lives of the attending heroes and will leave everyone with a renewed love for the environment and a healing mindset.

"I have been fortunate and have been to a lot of wounded warrior retreats, events, and concerts, but this one is the best of all. To be out here with a NASCAR legend in the great outdoors, it just doesn't get any better," according to Jorge DeLeon, Wounded Veteran, U.S. Army (Ret.), one of last year's participants.

"Freedom Alliance is always looking for ways to support and give back to our American Heroes. We are proud to co-host this event with Ward Burton and his Wildlife Foundation," said Calvin Coolidge, Executive Director of Freedom Alliance. "The outdoor events provide a unique type of rehabilitation and fun for our injured service members."

Media interested in covering this event should contact Ellen Mitchell at 813.961.4700 or Ellen@ConsultVistra.com.
