SAN DIEGO, CA, May 11, 2012 (Press-News.org) Aeromedevac, Inc., the premium provider of international air ambulance transport services, welcomed a new member to its staff this month: Dr. Gary Vilke was hired as Aeromedevac's new Medical Director to maximize the company's efficiency, oversee protocol, and manage real time medical direction and direct patient care.
As Medical Director and Flight Physician, Dr. Vilke will oversee quality assurance, the continuation of education for the crew, public relations, and patient care.
Working closely with Aeromedevac's general managers, Dr. Vilke has initiated this new position by developing strategies for the company's public relations, as well as working with the crews for education and quality improvement purposes.

A graduate from UCSD Medical School, Dr. Vilke brings extensive knowledge to the Aeromedevac team with a background in Emergency, Disaster, and Tactical Medicine. In addition, he has held positions as a Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine, at UCSD; a Flight Physician, with Lifeflight of San Diego and with Mercy Air; the Base Station Medical Director, for UCSD; and the Chief of Staff for both UCSD Hillcrest and Thornton Hospitals.
His continuing research focuses on tactical medicine and pre-hospital care, has qualified him to publish over 150 original articles and 45 book chapters in the medical field.
"With my emergency medical experience and hands-on work in the EMS transport of patients for almost 20 years, I am confident in my new position as Medical Director," said Dr. Vilke. Dr. Vilke began working at Aeromedevac April 1st and will be based out of the San Diego office, but will travel as necessary to carry out this position.
