SAN DIEGO, CA, May 12, 2012 (Press-News.org) In an interview with Retail Digital, Company Director Adrian Ryan explains how Lorraine Lea Linen has positively impacted the lives of Australians for over twenty-five years. Not only in supplying superior linen products in a new and innovate way, but by improving the lives of their sales force, and the most worthy citizens of their community.
Few successful companies were formed on the solid foundation of family like Lorraine Lea Linen. Started in 1986 by now Director Adrian Ryan's father, Peter Ryan, the company was started with the vision to provide an alternative model to in-store retail sales. They wanted to take their beautiful product to the customer rather than waiting for the customer to come to them--while at the same time creating a growing family of independent sales people to benefit from rewards of the expanding business.
Adrian Ryan explains the company's rise to paramount success. "My father originally started a retail business for my mother to operate," he says. After several years he became hungry to exit the traditional retail channel in hopes of fulfilling his original customer service vision. Soon he developed the idea to sell linen through a party plan model, and since has grown his small boutique company into a sprawling linen empire.
Lorraine Lea Linen boasts over 1,300 consultants through Australia and New Zealand, who all specialise in presenting home linen purchasing parties at customer's homes.
The model is not just about doing business in a new way, it is about engaging with people in a new way. "What we grant our Sales Force is an opportunity to run their own business and have a flexible life," he says, "They get a sense of self-esteem, independence, an opportunity to contribute to the family, and still have the flexibility to participate in the kids sport, schooling and growing up, or to enjoy personal interests of their own."

Engine Australia: 'To Diesel For', in Manufacturing Digital
2012-05-12
When Managing Director Philip Sturgess' father started Engine Australia in 1958, he built it where the tarmac ended, and the road turned to dirt. "So dad figured that if he built it where he did, he could catch the business coming in from the west."
And that's how a real-life outback yarn was spun by a family of smart, dedicated Australians. Today, with the company still headquartered in that same small rural town of Dalby ...
