SANFORD, NC, May 12, 2012 (Press-News.org) Pancakes, a Wild West Show, a country club luncheon, and horseshoes are all part of the festivities planned this week as Central Carolina Hospital (CCH) celebrates National Hospital Week and recognizes its outstanding employees, heroes and "miracle workers."
The entire CCH staff was treated to an old-fashioned pancake breakfast on Tuesday in recognition of CCH's 5-Star Patient Satisfaction for February.
Wednesday brought the annual service awards ceremony at Carolina Trace Country Club. More than 75 of the CCH staff were recognized for their contributions, including 18 members with more than 25 years of service. Barbara Johnson, Shirley Lankford, and Faye Richardson have each worked at CCH for more than 40 years! In addition to the service awards, recent retirees were honored, twelve 2011 employees of the month were acknowledged and two Tenet Heroes were also recognized.
On Thursday, CCH hosted a Wild West luncheon for all staff on the lawn. The theme was "CCH Staff - Best in the Country," and along with western-themed food, a Wild West show was performed twice, old-time photos, horseshoes, corn hole games and dummy calf roping were featured.
Ending the week, Friday, May 11, features the annual American Cancer Society's Relay for Life run/walk at the Lion's Club Fairgrounds. CCH staff will be present all night for the event, and they will have a booth selling homemade baked goods and baked sweet potatoes "with all the fixin's."
In addition, raffle tickets and purple bows helping "paint Lee County purple" are being sold by CCH staff and free prostate screening exams will be offered from 5-7 PM.
Doug Doris, CCH CEO noted, "This is a wonderful time for all of us. It gives us an opportunity to recognize the many contributions of our employees while sharing some fun and fellowship with one another. We're proud of our staff and the miracles they perform every day for the citizens of Lee County."
