CHICO, CA, May 12, 2012 (Press-News.org) By refining it to highlight the genre of the shows in a very readable and clean way, the station's management hopes to re-vamp the fundamental way in which the station's listeners will organize their time listening to the station.
It is the first time in six years that the task was undertaken, this time with the goal of re-vamping the fundamental way in which the station's listeners will organize their time listening to KZFR.
"Community Radio" and "Commercial Radio" differ in a few very obvious ways. One of them is that community radio has no advertisements while commercial radio is actually named for it. The other most obvious reason is "diverse genre-based programming". Station General Manager Rick Anderson says: "The main difference between community and commercial radio stations is the diverse genre-based programming schedule that offers a way of appealing to everybody, something that commercial radio can't do. You have to pick your preferred genre for a commercial station to listen to, if it even exists in your area. Our local communities benefit from having so many choices from KZFR on air and so do our underwriters."
This schedule design comes in the wake of an official KZFR logo make-over launched last month with branding agency ID International (Chico, CA and Milan, Italy). The agency volunteered to systematically re-design all the station's print materials starting with the logo. It's a modern-looking green and black oval with clearly readable station call letters and their frequency 90.1 FM. It has been popularly described around the station as "clean and green". It is hoped by Anderson that the updated logo sticker ultimately makes it onto a highly-visible number of cars, and that the new easy-to-understand radio schedule gets onto home and office refrigerators throughout the North State.
Putting the new schedule in front of the general public more aggressively than they have before will do better than just assisting KZFR's current listeners to find their favorite shows as well as music genres they might not have known the station plays. It will provide people who might not even know the station exists an excellent way to discover the most unique radio programming in Northern California.
About the schedule Anderson continues, "We've refined the schedule for our listeners so it highlights the GENRE of the shows in a very readable and clean way. It was important for us as a station to redesign the look of the schedule, it's such an important piece of community radio. It's all about making people not only aware of our programming but helping them save time in their busy lives knowing right when their favorite programming comes on
air," he continues, "and this is especially beneficial to our online stream as people around the world in different time zones can customize their radio listening by knowing what time they want most to tune us in."
He then mentioned that the Chico News and Review will be featuring a full page KZFR newspaper-style insert before the 2012 KZFR Fall Membership Drive to promote new listener awareness across Northern California, and to provide everyone who reads it with a new station schedule and a KZFR sticker.
Community radio stations are licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) as "non-commercial educational" stations and are owned and operated by non-profit organizations. They emphasize public participation in programming decisions and provide access to members of the public to produce shows, train members of the public to produce radio, and use volunteers in many roles. They receive financial support from listeners, local business owners, and news and public affairs programs that focus on local issues and alternative perspectives on world and national issues.
If you are outside KZFR's Northern California's transmission area, have no worries as they now stream their unique programming live on the Internet from http://www.kzfr.org. You can go there to see the new logo, get the new schedule, hear the station, and let their Management know that you support community radio for all.

Why You Need a Will

Why You Need a Will
Thinking about end-of-life planning can be disturbing -- which is perhaps why a Harris Interactive survey found the majority of American adults do not have a will. Understandably, many people put off creating a will or trust because they do not want to think about how their death will affect their loved ones. Some also feel that, due to only having a small or mid-sized estate, a will is unnecessary.
Yet dying without a will (dying "intestate") brings many potential hazards for your family. While many married couples assume everything ...

Infants age 12 months and younger faced the highest risk, accounting for nearly one-third of the injuries.
The problem is due in part to the fact that many stairways are not designed with child safety in mind, according to one author of the study. In addition, many serious ...
