In addition to medical coverage from the fund, the child and her family received a structured settlement from the hospital that will provide her with lifetime payments to compensate for her loss of earnings potential and loss of enjoyment of life.

"If the Medical Indemnity Fund works in the way that it was designed to, the results for this family show that the fund is effective in providing for injured infants.
