New York Medical Malpractice Attorneys Trolman, Glaser & Lichtman Settled Brain Injury at Birth Case for $5.9 Million
2012-05-14
NEW YORK, NY, May 14, 2012 (Press-News.org) Personal injury attorney Jeffrey Lichtman of Trolman, Glaser & Lichtman in New York City recently settled a significant medical negligence case against a major health care institution in New York for $5,900,000.

The case involved the birth-related injuries of a young girl. She suffered permanent brain damage and as a result will require extra care for the rest of her life. But thanks to the multimillion-dollar settlement, that care will not be a financial burden on her family.

Settled in accordance with the Medical Indemnity Fund that was established by the New York State Legislature in 2011, all of the girl's future medical care will be covered. The New York Medical Indemnity Fund pays for all future medical costs, including hospital and doctor bills, medications, medical equipment and home and vehicle modifications.

In addition to medical coverage from the fund, the child and her family received a structured settlement from the hospital that will provide her with lifetime payments to compensate for her loss of earnings potential and loss of enjoyment of life.

"We are pleased that we were able to reach this result for our client," said attorney Jeff Lichtman. "If the Medical Indemnity Fund works in the way that it was designed to, the results for this family show that the fund is effective in providing for injured infants. It appears that the goals of the statute created by the Legislature are being achieved."

The birth injury lawyers at Trolman, Glaser & Lichtman, along with their team of experienced support staff, have represented thousands of injured New Yorkers over the past 40 years and obtained more than $1 billion in settlements and verdicts for their clients. In addition to general personal injury matters, the firm handles medical malpractice cases, including those involving failure to diagnose, surgical errors, birth injuries, defective medical devices and dangerous drugs.

To contact Jeff Lichtman or any of the medical malpractice attorneys at Trolman, Glaser & Lichtman, visit the firm's website at www.tglmedicalmalpractice.com or call 800-407-7190.
