Community Service Award for Dahlin Group Architecture Planning's Green Leadership

Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce recognizes Dahlin Group's commitment to sustainable practices.

Community Service Award for Dahlin Group Architecture Planning's Green Leadership
2012-05-17
PLEASANTON, CA, May 17, 2012 (Press-News.org) Dahlin Group Architecture Planning has received the Green Business Award from Pleasanton, California's Chamber of Commerce, part of the Chamber's annual Community Service Awards. The Green Business Award recognizes businesses that promote sustainable environmental business practices throughout their organization for the benefit of employees, customers or the community.

"The Chamber launched these awards in 1963 to recognize good people doing great things in the community," said April Mitchell, board chairman of the chamber. "Dahlin Group is now part of our proud tradition of selecting Pleasanton's best businesses for this recognition--an outstanding recipient!"

Honorees of the 49th annual Community Service Awards were celebrated in Pleasanton in late March. "I speak for everyone at Dahlin Group when I thank the Chamber for its recognition of our commitment to greener and more sustainable ways of doing business," said Principal Lauri Moffet-Fehlberg in acknowledging the honor. "This is a core value shared by everyone at Dahlin Group, and we are deeply gratified by this recognition."

A flagship of Dahlin Group's commitment to sustainability is its headquarters building in Pleasanton's Hacienda Business Park. Completed in 2007, the firm's award-winning remodel of this former auto inspection facility earned LEED-Silver (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), a first for Hacienda Business Park and at the time, only the third LEED-certified structure in Pleasanton. It features such green building measures as functional sunshades, low VOC paints, environmentally sensitive carpeting and adhesives, water thrifty plumbing and spectrally selective glass.

Complementing the building's green design is its location, which Dahlin Group selected specifically to promote the use of transit to ease commuting for the firm's workforce and clients. "Easier, more fuel-efficient and economical ways to get to and from our work places are key to sustainability," said Moffet-Fehlberg. "Our office is next to Dublin-Pleasanton's BART station, which optimizes the use of transit from Oakland and San Francisco. Bus lines for the Central Valley, where much of the area's most affordable housing is found, are also convenient."

Celebrating 35 years of design achievements, Dahlin Group Architecture Planning is active in virtually every type of real estate development in the U.S. and internationally. Please see www.dahlingroup.com or contact Elaine Moal at Elaine.moal@dahlingroup.com or by calling 925-251-7219.
