Leading Independent Steel Trader, C&F Gruenstahl Rebrands While Providing The Same Quality Services, in Energy Digital

In a report in Energy Digital, CEO of US Operations John Foster discusses the March 1 re-branding of international steel trading and trading services organization C&F Gruenstahl, formerly known at Coutinho & Ferrostaal Incorporated.

2012-05-23
SAN DIEGO, CA, May 23, 2012 (Press-News.org) In a report in Energy Digital, CEO of US Operations John Foster discusses the March 1 re-branding of international steel trading and trading services organization C&F Gruenstahl, formerly known at Coutinho & Ferrostaal Incorporated.

The incorporation of "Gruenstahl" - German for "green steel" - into the company name reflects the corporate color of parent company Grupo Villacero of Mexico and the passion of its environmentally-conscious owner Julio Villarreal; as well as the Hamburg, Germany location of C&F Gruenstahl's international headquarters.

Coutinho & Ferrostaal formed in 2008 when CCC Steel, the Ferrostaal Metals Group and Grupo Villacero merged the core competencies of CCC Steel and the Ferrostaal Metals Group, which both had metals business experience stretching back more than 100 years.

"Originally, we were each one-third partners. Villacero and the CCC side wanted to do some inorganic growth. Ferrostaal was part of MAN (of Germany), our parent at the time, which was divesting its non-core businesses. This was one of those matches that hit at the right time," says Foster.

C&F Gruenstahl is 100 percent owned by Grupo Villacero, generates more than $2 billion annual turnover, and employs approximately 300 at 56 locations in 34 countries with operational hubs in Hamburg and Essen Germany and Houston, TX. As a one-stop provider of tailored solutions, the company is nimble enough to adjust and move quickly while offering diversified market coverage and services.

"That is the whole value equation - we make the global purchasing experience as easy and as risk-free as possible for our clients," says Foster.

For Richard Shea, Vice-President of Alabama-based specialty contractor Morris-Shea Bridge Co., the decision to manage the juggernaut company's steadily growing operations was an easy one.
