WASHINGTON, DC, May 24, 2012 (Press-News.org) A hospital is more than a place where people go to heal, it is a part of the community that fosters health and represents hope. From providing treatment and comfort to the sick, hospitals are central to a healthy and optimistic community. That's the message Specialty Hospital of Washington is touting with the 2012 National Hospital, Nurses and Nursing Home Week theme "Recognizing Staff Nurses, Clinicians and Administrative Professionals who brighten the lives of our patients, residents and their families."
The event theme was the centerpiece of a promotional campaign aimed at recognizing all employees that make the Specialty Hospital of Washington "special". The week long event consisted of a number of activities spotlighting the great work that clinicians, healthcare professionals and administrative professionals do every day to ensure that our patients and residents reach their optimal health and wellness.
National Hospital Week is the nation's largest health care event that dates back to 1921 when it was suggested by a magazine editor who hoped a community wide celebration would alleviate public fears about hospitals. The celebration launched in Chicago, succeeded in promoting trust and goodwill among members of the public and eventually spread to facilities across the country.
