EAU CLAIRE, WI, May 24, 2012 (Press-News.org) Realityworks, Inc. announced one of Fort Wayne, Ind.'s Homestead High School's submissions as the winner of its RealCare Video Contest. The winning submission beat out 15 other videos from schools and organizations around the country to win a $1,000 donation to their school.
Organizations and schools that have an active RealCare Program were eligible to enter the contest. Entries had to include how the program has made a difference in their community. Submissions were initially judged by number of views and the number of stars (ranking) per video. The top five most-viewed and highest-ranked videos became the finalists for the contest. These five finalists were then judged by a selection committee that chose the first, second and third place winners.
Homestead High School submitted three videos into the contest under Family and Consumer Science teacher, Tiffany Ham. Each video represented one of the Child Development classes at the school. Students worked in collaboration with one another to film and produce the videos.
"The students worked really hard on the videos so I am thrilled to have one of them win," said Ham. "The RealCare Program plays an integral part in my Child Development classes and as you can see in the videos, truly makes a difference in these kids' lives."
The evidence-based RealCare Program combines a comprehensive curriculum with state-of-the-art infant simulators. The infant simulators provide a realistic hands-on experience of caring for a newborn infant.
"This was our first year holding the RealCare Video Contest and we were very impressed with the quality of submissions we received," said Timmothy Boettcher, President of Realityworks, Inc. "The RealCare Program has been changing lives for over 16 years. These videos showcase the impact it makes and how experiential technology can really take lessons to a new level."
