LEONIA, NJ, May 24, 2012 (Press-News.org) Joyce Luhrs, president of the marketing and management solutions firm Luhrs & Associates, has been appointed to a one-year term on the board of directors of Leonia Arts, a nonprofit cultural arts alliance based in Leonia, New Jersey.
Leonia Arts has a mission to support, stimulate, enhance, promote and connect the arts within the borough and to outer communities. The grassroots organization supports the arts by connecting the various diverse artists and creative groups in the town often called the "Athens of New Jersey."
Ms. Luhrs has been actively involved in the organization and previously completed two terms of service on its board of directors. She has developed and implemented the organization's publicity campaigns and worked on various fund-raising projects.
Ms. Luhrs brings to the nonprofit umbrella arts organization extensive experience working with businesses and nonprofits to promote and increase their image and name recognition in various markets. She has written numerous articles about dance, the arts, and other topics. Her company, Luhrs & Associates, is a creative marketing, public relations, and management services firm that works with businesses, celebrities, entertainers, nonprofit organizations and schools.
Her other philanthropic activities include providing pro-bono one-on-one consulting about public relations and publicity to nonprofit leaders attending the Center for Nonprofits 2011, 2010, and 2009 conferences. She also serves on the board of directors of the League of Women Voters of Northern Valley and the Hispanic Business Council Scholarship Foundation of NJ, Inc.
Ms. Luhrs holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Oberlin College and a Master of Arts degree from Columbia University. She held a Leadership New Jersey fellowship and public policy fellowships from the University at Albany, State University of New York-Center for Women in Government & Civil Society, the City of New York and the Washington, D.C. based Institute for Educational Leadership's Education Policy Fellowship Program.
She has received numerous awards, including a New Jersey Women of Achievement Award from Douglass College and the New Jersey State Federation of Women's Clubs and several other honors.
