LOS ANGELES, CA, June 25, 2012 (Press-News.org) Inspired by renowned artist Gerhard Richter's thick layers of paint and strategically blurred paintings based on black and white photographs, Maltzman uses layers and twisted brushwork to achieve an almost photographic effect with his dream-like evanescent figures. Deliberately lacking an explicit agenda; his high impact shadowy figures and faces do not require anything more from the viewer than perhaps a reflection that allows the viewer to fill in the blanks with their own storyline. Remarking on his own work, Maltzman states "Painted with a spontaneous feel, images are often created with a different perspective, but the vision can be universally understood. I think that's what people appreciate about my work; they just see the spaciousness in the paintings that really gives it an interesting feel."
The appeal of Maltzman's work has drawn the attention of collectors with international flair looking for works that speak across geographic boundaries including Steve Wynn, Justin Bieber, Lee Iacocca, Steve Tisch, Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Petra Ecclestone, and many others. One collector described Maltzman as "one of those quite rare breakthrough artists who is in the process of defining a new vision, a new paradigm, in which you are bringing astute references from the past into a dynamic sensibility of the present to create a measure of elegance and beauty that I believe has been missing from contemporary art for much too long."
Maltzman and his artworks have appeared on several television shows such as the Academy and Emmy Awards as well as in the background of Bravo's The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, NBC's Dirty Sexy Money and MTV's Paris Hilton's My New BFF.
Maltzman's inspirations are derived from everything around him. A dynamic billboard, a stunning fashion ad, a woman masquerading in the night; anything can set off an idea that will turn into a painting. He mentions "My thing is painting... I'm doing it for the love of what I do."
Artspace Warehouse, one of the world's leading galleries for savvy contemporary art collectors, exhibits emerging and established American and European artists in a variety of media. A new series of Daniel Maltzman's artworks recently arrived and are shown in the current exhibition.
Artspace Warehouse specializes in guilt-free international, urban, pop, graffiti, photo and abstract art with galleries in Cologne, Zurich and Los Angeles. The affordable price range includes a special collector's section offering exclusive paintings by established international contemporary artists.
