LateRooms.com - An Art Exhibition Kicks Off in Madrid

Madrid tourists can see the work of Hans-Peter Feldmann at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte.

2010-10-01
MADRID, SPAIN, October 01, 2010 (Press-News.org) Anyone staying in Madrid hotels in the upcoming months will have the opportunity to visit the unusually-titled An Art Exhibition in the Spanish capital, which showcases the work of Hans-Peter Feldmann.

The German artist's creations will be on display until February 28th 2011, so art enthusiasts have plenty of time to travel down to the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia (MNCARS) to see the collection.

Attendees will certainly be in for a treat, as Feldmann has a peculiar style that takes the banal and makes it intriguing.

For instance, part of the collection is entitled 100 Years and sees the artist put together 100 black and white images of people aged from eight weeks to 100 years old.

The display's title - An Art Exhibition - may sound odd, but one of the organisers has suggested it is the perfect name for an arrangement that features everything from photographs and paintings to sculptures and old newspapers.

"It sounds like a descriptive title, but it allows us to say that everything you find there is art," AFP quotes the show's curator Helena Tatay as saying.

Within the MNCARS, the exhibition can be found on the third floor of the Sabatini Building.

The arts space is open from Monday to Saturday between 10:00 and 21:00 local time - except Tuesdays when it is closed - and Sundays from 10:00 to 14:30.

Admission to the temporary show costs EUR3 (GBP2.55), but people must pay EUR6 to see the permanent collection as well.

For more information on this event visit the MNCARS website or contact the venue on +34 91 774 10 00.
