MELVILLE, NY, June 29, 2012 (Press-News.org) The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) held their annual Chapter Awards and Officer Installation dinner on Thursday, June 21, at the Sheraton, in Hauppauge, NY. The well-attended event had the honor of NARI National President, Dean Herriges, being in attendance.
The evening's festivities were sponsored by a handful of active NARI members. Pella Windows & Doors was the Platinum sponsor, Riverhead Building Supply was the Gold sponsor, and both Penn Fabricators and Azek Building Products were the Silver sponsors. Education Chairman, Daniel Vazquez, of Brockway-Smith, acknowledged all certification class moderators and educators, while congratulating NARI members who passed their Certified Remodelers exam.
In addition to those acknowledgements, a group of prestigious awards were also handed out. The Outstanding Service Award was given to Laurence Carolan, GCP, CR, of House of Laurence, and Sharon McGovern, of Nassau Suffolk Lumber. The award is presented to individuals who have given outstanding service and support to the NYC LI Chapter through the promotion of programs for their membership. The Rising Star Award was given to Patrick Bentivegna, CR, of Benco Construction, and Robi Kirsic, CKBR, of Timeline Renovations, Inc. The award is presented to individuals who have become rising stars in the association through various leadership roles.
The Salesperson of the Year Award was given to Gina Marzano, of Marcor Construction and Roofing. The award is presented to an individual who always speaks highly of NARI and the NYC LI Chapter. The President's Award was given to PR Committee Chairwoman, Barbara Farley, of Triangle Building Products. The award is presented to the individual who has helped the Chapter with outstanding service and support. The Chairman's Award was given to John Hogan, of Mid-State Lumber, resulting from his dedication and devotion to NARI NYC LI and their members.
NARI's highest honor, the Al Hovanian, CR, Memorial Chapter Award, was given to Harris Boshak, of Florence Building Corp. This award is presented to the individual who has provided tireless dedication and support to the betterment of NARI NYC LI. The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to the individual who has been an integral part of the Chapter for many years. They have also dedicated their life to the betterment of the association through participation in various events and the holding of many active leadership positions, including Committee Chair and Board Member. This year's recipient was Dominick Mupo, of Chelsea Home Remodeling. Mr. Mupo has been a member of NARI NYC LI since 1993 and a member of the Board of Directors since 1994. He has also been Chairman of the Golf Committee since 1999; helping to raise over $200,000 in profits for the Chapter.
Once the award ceremony was complete, it was time for NARI National President, Dean Herriges, to induct the new slate of officers. Construction, 4th Vice President Daniel Vazquez, of Brockway-Smith, Secretary Lauren Gardner, of Wanerka Electric, Treasurer Steven Sundack, of Steven Sundack CPA, General Counsel Karl Silverberg, Esq., of King & King LLP and Historian Art Donnelly, MCR, CKBR or Legacy Builders & Remodelers Corp.
