LANSING, MI, June 30, 2012 (Press-News.org) IDV Solutions has updated Visual Command Center with new features to help security departments identify risks, interrogate threats, and initiate action. Visual Command Center is risk visualization and response software for protecting employees, assets, and operations. It empowers organizations with a comprehensive, actionable view of risk, from globe to ground.
New weather alerting rules enhance the ease with which operations teams can handle updated or re-issued weather alerts. New category, configuration, and filtering options let teams decide which global incidents they want to elevate to alert status, and which appear on the global risk visualization. New category and severity configuration options are also available for alerts related to natural disasters, such as earthquakes, floods, volcanoes, and tropical cyclones.
Visual Command Center now offers one-click access to a "risk report," which summarizes information about all people, assets, and operations located near an alert into an Excel document, whether the alert was triggered by weather, terrorism, or other incidents. An e-mail notification can also be automatically sent with the same information.
"The alerting enhancements in Visual Command Center will help security and operations teams identify and prioritize sources of risk to their employees and facilities" said Scott Caulk, Vice President, Product Management. "By combining the rich sources of external data about the threat with their own internal security data, teams will be better able to visualize the situation, assess it, and initiate the appropriate action."
Visual Command Center users will also benefit from the recent update to Microsoft Bing maps, which includes live traffic condition information for 23 countries and improved traffic coverage for secondary roads in the United States. Bing Maps now offers coverage in most of Europe and parts of the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
"Microsoft's enhanced traffic data will definitely help our customers. Freight-related traffic congestion cost the U.S. as much as $33 billion in 2009," said Caulk, "There's also the additional personal cost of lost time, potential safety hazards, or the disruption it can cause a business when people or important cargoes are delayed."
