SIDNEY, NY, July 01, 2012 (Press-News.org) Amphenol Industrial Global Operations, a global leader in interconnect systems, has expanded its worldwide reach earning Australian TUV approval for its Starline EX and Amphe-EX series of connectors. These connectors are the first multi-pin power/signal products within the connector market that have earned this designation. This approval allows for both connector series to be used in the Australian mining and gas markets.
Designed for hazardous ATEX and IECEx applications, these rugged connectors feature exceptional mating properties and are available in high grade 316 stainless steel. These series of connectors offer a higher level of corrosion resistance for use in the harshest environments including mining, land drilling and offshore drilling.
Martin Booker, general manager of Amphenol Industrial Global Operations, said, "Australian import conditions require that our products undergo successful safety checks based on IEC standards. By obtaining TUV approval for Starline EX and Amphe-EX, Amphenol is now able to expand into a new geographic market and reach more customers worldwide."
"By utilizing its stainless steel hardware options, Starline EX and Amphe-EX have passed the stringent tests required to be recognized by TUV Australia," continued Booker.
Amphenol's Starline EX and Amphe-EX are threaded, flameproof and fabricated to prevent the mixture of explosive gases and the electrical circuits by means of tighter tolerances in mated junctions.
Both of the connector series are approved for Zone 1 rated applications and eliminate hardwiring to terminal blocks enclosed in junction boxes. Each provides quick and safe interconnections to modular equipment.
The Starline EX and Amphe-EX offer temperature ranges of -20ºC to +55 ºC (T5 and T6 ratings available).
Pricing for the Starline EX starts at $600 - $700 per mated set. Pricing for the Amphe-EX starts at $350 - $400 per mated set. Delivery is 8-10 weeks ARO. The connectors are also available through select distribution channels. Consult factory for specific details.
