HUNTSVILLE, AL, October 01, 2010 (Press-News.org) Chris Otto, the CEO of Halo Monitoring and developer of myHalo, the most accurate fall detection device, told members of Congress that wireless technology can save health care dollars and bring peace of mind for seniors and their families. Otto demonstrated the life-saving myHalo system during an event on Capitol Hill showcasing health related wireless technologies. The event was organized by the West Wireless Health Institute, a non-profit research organization promoting the use of wireless health solutions to lower health care costs.
"myHalo allows seniors to live independently at home where it's comfortable and affordable- rather than a senior care facility- but also provides the ability for help to be automatically called if it's needed," says Otto. "myHalo enhances safety and wellness by summoning help if a senior falls without the need to push a button."
Through the use of a small, comfortable, wireless device worn by a senior, the advanced myHalo system sends an automatic alert in the event of a fall. myHalo is also the first system of its kind of monitor a senior's heart rate and temperature and then uses a secure web portal to allow family members or designated caregivers the ability to check on an elderly loved ones' situation without invading a senior's privacy.
Halo Monitoring was the only fall detection technology company to demonstrate at the conference. Other technologies included systems to provide mobile ultrasounds, the remote monitoring of vital signs as well as cardio performance, and a system to track when asthma medication is used.
