HOLLYWOOD, FL, July 03, 2012 (Press-News.org) Sue T. Walling, Retired Teacher for Westside Elementary School, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Sue T. Walling's commitment to excellence in Elementary Education.
Walling, who earned her BS Degree in Elementary Education in 1973 from the University of Tennessee and her MA Degree in Administration and Supervision of Instruction in 1976 from Austin Peay State University, spent thirty-nine years teaching to elementary school-aged children.
Having taught kindergarten from 1973-1996 in Tennessee before moving to Texas with her husband, Walling would later teach for another eight years for grades pre-k, kindergarten, first grade, and sixth grade. In 2005, she moved back to Tennessee where she taught fifth and first grades for another three years before retiring in 2011.
Certified to teach English as a Second Language, Walling also pursued a post-graduate degree for some time. During her career she attended numerous workshops and classes in all phases of education to improve her teaching strategies and learn new ones.
"My inspiration came from my faith in God and belief that all children can succeed," Walling explained. "I have always wanted to help children become responsible, caring adults."
Walling is a member of Grace Baptist Church, where she is active in the children's choir, adult choir, and Vacation Bible School. She is also an assistant Sunday School teacher for the church.
