BANGKOK, THAILAND, July 04, 2012 (Press-News.org) Bangkok's Thai Cultural Center will host a concert event called Dmitry Sitkovetsky Plays Sibelius this August, as part of the ongoing Great Artists of the World 2012 series.
The performance rep will showcase the virtuoso musical ability of Azerbaijan-born Sitkovetsky - widely regarded as one of the finest violinists in the world - as he plays a number of enduring Sibelius classics.
During a glittering career, the musician has performed with all of the major London orchestras, the Berlin, New York and Los Angeles Philharmonics, and the Chicago, Philadelphia and Cleveland orchestras, among many others.
Conductor Chikara Iwamura will lead Sitkovetsky in performances of excerpts from Sibelius's Karelia Suite, Violin Concerto in D minor and Symphony No 9 in E flat major.
The show starts at 20:00 local time, with tickets priced between 500 and 2,500 baht (GBP10.10 and GBP50.50).
It will be performed in the main hall of the Thai Cultural Center, which is equipped with 2,000 seats and has been specially designed to provide the best possible acoustic quality.
