MADF announces the six recipients for the C.L.A.S.S. Award
SUWANEE, GA, July 04, 2012
Make A Difference Foundation, Inc (MADF) is once again honored to highlight the outstanding academic achievements of six high school seniors with the announcement of its 2012 Charlotte Lemons Annual Student Scholarship (C.L.A.S.S.) Award. Established in 2004, C.L.A.S.S. is a need based scholarship which awards $1,000 educational grants to graduating high school seniors throughout the states of Georgia and Florida."We believe one of the keys to a healthy, innovative, and prosperous nation can be found in our ability to successfully educate future generations", says Donovan R. Quary, Sr., MADF Executive Director. The C.L.A.S.S. Award is intended to give students in need of financial assistance the opportunity to further their education at a two-year or four-year college or technical institution of their choice. The primary goal of this grant is to relieve some of the financial pressures students face while pursuing higher education. Since the program's creation, MADF has made commendable strides in accomplishing that goal; awarding over $48,000 in educational scholarships.
The annual selection process begins in January and consists of a four page informational application; along with a one to two page typed essay on the topic "Making A Difference In My Community" where the student must identify a need in their neighborhood and describe a detailed plan to address that need.
This year we proudly welcome to the MADF family, Ms. Samantha Lee (Lambert HS - Suwanee, GA), Ms. Kiyata Hopkins (Lithia Springs HS - Lithia Springs, GA), Ms. Peri Bell (Booker T. Washington HS - Atlanta, GA), Ms. Jumonke Ekunseitan (Booker T. Washington HS - Atlanta, GA), Mr. Takim Williams (Wesleyan School - Norcross, GA) and Mr. Lorenzo Torres (George Jenkins HS - Lakeland, FL). The recipients will be honored at the 2012 C.L.A.S.S. Awards to be held on October 20 at the Westin Atlanta Airport Hotel; tickets for this event will be open to the public.
