Metro Health's Pamela Carlson Promoted to Director of Quality & Patient Safety

Metro Health Hospital announced today that Pamela Carlson has been promoted to director of quality and patient safety.

WYOMING, MI, July 12, 2012 (Press-News.org) Metro Health Hospital announced today that Pamela Carlson has been promoted to director of quality and patient safety.

A registered nurse, Carlson brings 23 years of direct patient care experience to her new role. She will be responsible for development of the hospital quality improvement program as well as in charge of planning and oversight of the daily operations of the quality improvement department. She will work to promote best practices and a culture of safety to help Metro continue to be recognized as a leader in safe, high quality patient care.

Carlson joined Metro in 2010 as the endoscopy department nurse manager. In December 2011, she joined the outcomes management team as a quality management coordinator and has made significant achievements since that time. She has also previously served as a registered nurse at other acute-care hospitals.

She is currently serving a two-year term on the Great Lakes Chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives board. She is also a member of the American Nurses Association and the National Association for Healthcare Quality.

She holds a diploma in nursing from Blodgett Memorial Medical Center School of Nursing and a master's degree in nursing leadership and management from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minn. She was recently certified as a health care quality professional and is working toward certification in patient safety.

A native of Grand Haven, she resides in Grand Rapids with her partner, Kate, and daughter, Michaeline
