HOUSTON, TX, July 16, 2012 (Press-News.org) A Harris County State District Court jury awarded a $118 million verdict to six investors that were defrauded by First National Bank of Edinburg, Conroe attorney Eric Yollick and a healthcare management group (Cause #2010-41034). Members of the jury found that First National Bank, Eric Yollick and the Merensky Reef Hospital Corporation breached their written agreement and committed fraud when the Defendants wrongfully conspired to take possession of three hospitals purchased by the investor plaintiffs.
Zona Jones of the Provost Umphrey Law Firm says, "The jury found this financial institution and their lawyer enticed our clients to enter into a written agreement that the Defendants never intended to honor." Co-lead counsel, Mike McCauley of McWhorter, Cobb and Johnson in Lubbock commented "The jury listened intently during the five-week trial and held these defendants accountable for intentionally breaking the law."
In addition to Jones and McCauley, Plaintiffs were represented by, Tim Pridmore and Andrew Seger of the McWhorter firm, along with Pat Zummo of The Law Offices of Patrick Zummo. Marc Tabolsky and Dori K. Goldberg of Yetter Coleman in Houston also assisted in the prosecution of Plaintiff's case.
Defendants were represented by Eric Yollick and Travis Owens of the Yollick Law Firm, Levi Benton of Benton and Massey in Houston, and former Texas Supreme Court Justice, Scott A. Brister of Andrews Kurth.
