ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA, October 02, 2010 (Press-News.org) Jesus Christ Superstar, one of the most famous and opinion-dividing theatre productions of modern times, is coming to Adelaide in the next few weeks.
Running at Her Majesty's Theatre between October 22nd and November 6th 2010, the show has occasionally courted controversy but has continued to attract audiences from around the world since it was first staged in 1971.
Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's classic production charts the final seven days of the life of Jesus, seen through the eyes of Judas Iscariot.
In the story, Judas is unable to view Jesus as anything other than a deeply flawed human and is worried he will ultimately lose control of his followers, which would doom them to destruction at the hands of the Roman empire.
Even guests staying in Adelaide hotels who have watched a previous version of the show may like to consider booking tickets for this production, which features an updated score described by the venue as "scintillating and spine-chilling".
International touring artist Luke Kennedy, who was previously a member of the Ten Tenors, will star in the title role, while Australian Idol finalist Sarah Lloyde will appear as Mary.
Tickets are available from A$43, while groups of ten or more can get in for the discounted rate of A$35 per person.
For more information on this event, visit the Her Majesty's Theatre website or contact the venue on (+61) 8 8216 8774.
