Massachusetts Eye Doctors Announce Mobile Web Site

D'Ambrosio Eye Care is pleased to announce the launch of its new mobile web site.

2012-07-18
LANCASTER, MA, July 18, 2012 (Press-News.org) "With the convenience and efficiency that the internet can offer, all of the eye doctors at D'Ambrosio Eye Care have embraced the use of digital technology to facilitate patient education, referrals for specialized eye care services within our practice and sharing uniform eye health and vision records within our electronic medical records system," explained Francis D'Ambrosio, Jr., M.D. "The progression into the use of mobile web technology really began when we integrated it into our EMR system so our eye doctors could access patient records via a mobile device from any place they happen to be. This makes patient care information easier to review and share and is quite good for the patient," he further explained.

"The next step in our mobile web and mobile search progress became clear almost immediately thereafter. As we looked around our practice it was obvious that literally every patient-regardless of age-was using a smartphone-an iPhone or Android in particular-and while they were in the reception or waiting areas they were carrying their iPad or other computer tablets. I guess what we were seeing even within an eye care practice was the adoption at the consumer or patient level consistent with the trends in mobile device usage-so we had to go there for our patients," shared Dr. D'Ambrosio. "We realized that we needed to not simply have a web site, but a real mobile web site with convenient mobile functioning for our patients-it's just part of our commitment to making D'Ambrosio Eye Care easily accessible to patients."

"Our patients who need to schedule eye exams, LASIK patients, those looking for eyeglasses and eyewear and even cataract and lens implant patients-want to be able to find us on their mobile devices today," stated Cindy Ogilvie, Practice Administrator.

"The global growth trends in mobile device adoption and usage are pretty clear. What eye care providers are surprised about is how it affects their practice access by patients. Mobile internet usage looks like it will exceed desktop internet usage by 2014. Thus, successful ophthalmology practices will need to make it easy for patients to call on cell phone with simple "click to talk" features to facilitate convenience and ease of scheduling appointments and obtain information. When eye doctors realize that the overall metrics suggest that those using mobile search do in fact "click to talk" some 60% of the time they understand the impact on ease of patient scheduling and inquiry. This is a huge improvement over desktop search," commented Katherine Carlisle, Managing Member of Medical Management Services Group, L.L.C. an ophthalmology practice management and management consulting firm active in digital eye care services.
