RALEIGH, NC, July 18, 2012

Triangle Family Services (TFS) (https://www.tfsnc.org/), an organization dedicated to helping families in crisis, has announced that it will host its annual Wake Up with TFS breakfast on Thursday, Sept. 6 from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the PNC Arena (formerly the RBC Center) at 1400 Edwards Mill Road. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about key issues impacting the Triangle, including homelessness, domestic violence and mental health, as well as listen to some TFS clients share their stories and explain how the organization helped their families move into stable and healthy life situations.

- Domestic Violence: TFS served 549 clients in its domestic violence abuser treatment programs (DOSE), and 95 percent of those clients did not re-offend within one year. This is one of the largest abuser treatment programs in North Carolina.

- Financial Services: TFS provided in-depth financial analysis and budget training to 3,629 financially fragile individuals and families last year, a 24 percent increase from 2010.

- Emergency Housing Services: This focus area has expanded exponentially over the past year, resulting in housing counselors assisting 674 individuals and 242 families.

- Mental Health: TFS mental health services were provide to 502 families and individuals in 2011.

QUOTES:
"Homelessness, domestic violence and mental health affect many families in the Triangle and prevent them from having a healthy, stable life situation," said Alice Lutz, CEO of Triangle Family Services. "This breakfast is a great opportunity for people to learn more about how they can help our community grow stronger and address these issues effectively, as well as hear from individuals who have directly benefitted from the assistance of Triangle Family Services in these situations."
